CaptureGem saves public XCams rooms to your computer, using the browser built into the desktop app. This guide walks you from installing the app to finding the saved video.
Free to start, and the same steps on Windows, macOS and Linux.
CaptureGem is free to download and use, with no account needed. Download CaptureGem for Windows, macOS or Linux and open the desktop app.
Update to the latest version so XCams appears under Select Website. Leave the CaptureGem window open while recording: CaptureGem records XCams in a browser window inside the desktop app, so the standalone recorder can't record XCams by itself.
Example link
https://www.xcams.com/chat/model_username/Open the broadcaster's public room and copy the address, or note the model username in it.
XCams and XLoveCam are separate sites, so pick the one that matches your room link.
The names and numbers in these examples are placeholders; use the ones from the real page.
Go to the Record tab and paste the link into Enter URL or Username in the Add Stream panel; CaptureGem switches Select Website to XCams on its own. Prefer typing? Pick XCams under Select Website and enter just the model username.
Keep Monitor Only switched off so the stream is saved, then click Add Stream.

CaptureGem opens the room in its own XCams browser window. If the site asks for age confirmation, acceptance of its terms or a sign-in before recording can start, an XCams window may appear. Finish those steps there, then retry the recording in CaptureGem.
Sign in inside that window when asked; signing in through your everyday browser doesn't sign in CaptureGem's session. If XCams says your free viewing time is over, follow its sign-in instructions before retrying.
Once recording starts, the capture window runs in the background. Keep CaptureGem open while it records.
Watch the stream's row on the Record tab: it switches to Recording once a public stream is available. An offline or unavailable stream won't produce a video until it comes back.
Hover over a status for more detail, such as the reason behind an Errored status.
When a recording finishes, CaptureGem converts it into a video file; long recordings can take a little while. Open the Review tab to play, trim, tag or delete it, or click Open Video Folder on the Record tab.
Recordings are MP4 files by default. With Premium, each file runs up to 60 minutes by default and auto-record starts the next one straight away. You can change the save location, the file length (Cap Video Segments at Duration (Minutes)) and the container in Settings.
The free version saves up to 5 minutes per recording and lets you add up to 10 models. It records a model when you add or start them while they are live, so if the model was offline, start the recording again later.
Premium removes those limits and adds auto-record: select the model on the Record tab, choose Modify Auto Record under Actions and pick Record Always. CaptureGem then records whenever the model comes online and restarts after a disconnect. To do this for every model you add, turn on Auto Record All Newly Added Models in Settings.
The Monitor tab shows live previews of everything you are recording.
Compare the free version and PremiumWait until the model is broadcasting publicly, then try again.
The XCams integration records public rooms. Recording stops if the room turns private, paid, blurred or otherwise restricted.
Finish the site's steps in CaptureGem's XCams window and retry the recording yourself. CaptureGem respects XCams viewing limits.
Check that the public video plays in the XCams window and that your connection works. If the broadcast ends or the player stops delivering video, wait for it to come back before retrying.
Update CaptureGem to the latest version.
If a recording keeps failing, update CaptureGem, check that the stream plays in your browser, and ask in our Discord community. Premium members can also send a failed recording to support.
Download CaptureGem for free and follow the steps above to add your first stream.
