CaptureGem saves public ManyVids Live shows to your computer. You don't need a ManyVids account. This guide walks you from installing the app to finding the saved video.
Free to start, and the same steps on Windows, macOS and Linux.
CaptureGem is free to download and use, with no account needed. Download CaptureGem for Windows, macOS or Linux and open the desktop app.
Update to the latest version so ManyVids appears under Select Website. Leave the CaptureGem window open while recording: CaptureGem records ManyVids in a hidden, muted browser window inside the desktop app, so the standalone recorder can't record ManyVids by itself.
Example link
https://www.manyvids.com/live/cam/creator_handleOpen the creator's live room on ManyVids Live and copy the address. A profile link such as https://www.manyvids.com/Profile/1234567/creator_handle/live works as well.
The handle is the part after /live/cam/. It can differ from the creator's display name, so take it from the address.
The names and numbers in these examples are placeholders; use the ones from the real page.
Go to the Record tab and paste the link into Enter URL or Username in the Add Stream panel; CaptureGem switches Select Website to ManyVids on its own. Prefer typing? Pick ManyVids under Select Website and enter just the room handle.
Keep Monitor Only switched off so the stream is saved, then click Add Stream.

CaptureGem checks whether the creator is live and starts recording as soon as a public show is on. Keep CaptureGem open; the capture runs in the background.
Hover over a status for more detail, such as the reason behind an Errored status.
When a recording finishes, CaptureGem converts it into a video file; long recordings can take a little while. Open the Review tab to play, trim, tag or delete it, or click Open Video Folder on the Record tab.
Recordings are MP4 files by default. With Premium, each file runs up to 60 minutes by default and auto-record starts the next one straight away. You can change the save location, the file length (Cap Video Segments at Duration (Minutes)) and the container in Settings.
The free version saves up to 5 minutes per recording and lets you add up to 10 models. It records a model when you add or start them while they are live, so if the model was offline, start the recording again later.
Premium removes those limits and adds auto-record: select the model on the Record tab, choose Modify Auto Record under Actions and pick Record Always. CaptureGem then records whenever the model comes online and restarts after a disconnect. To do this for every model you add, turn on Auto Record All Newly Added Models in Settings.
The Monitor tab shows live previews of everything you are recording.
Compare the free version and PremiumWait for the creator to start a public show, then try again.
CaptureGem records public shows only. When a public show turns private, the recording stops and keeps what it already captured.
Use the room handle from the creator's address, not their display name.
Make sure the show plays in your browser on ManyVids Live and that your connection works. Some creators block certain regions; if a show won't play for you on ManyVids, CaptureGem can't record it either.
Update CaptureGem to the latest version.
If a recording keeps failing, update CaptureGem, check that the stream plays in your browser, and ask in our Discord community. Premium members can also send a failed recording to support.
Download CaptureGem for free and follow the steps above to add your first stream.
