How to Record Chaturbate with CaptureGem

CaptureGem saves public Chaturbate shows to your computer. In most regions you don't need a Chaturbate account, just the room link. This guide walks you from installing the app to finding the saved video.

Record Chaturbate in 5 steps

Free to start, and the same steps on Windows, macOS and Linux.

  1. Step 1: Install CaptureGem

    CaptureGem is free to download and use, with no account needed. Download CaptureGem for Windows, macOS or Linux and open the desktop app.

    If you already have CaptureGem, update to the latest version.

  2. Step 2: Copy the room link

    Open the model's room and copy the address from the browser bar. The username is whatever follows chaturbate.com/, and capitalization doesn't matter.

    The names and numbers in these examples are placeholders; use the ones from the real page.

  3. Step 3: Add the stream

    Go to the Record tab and paste the link into Enter URL or Username in the Add Stream panel; CaptureGem switches Select Website to Chaturbate on its own. Prefer typing? Pick Chaturbate under Select Website and enter just the username.

    Keep Monitor Only switched off so the stream is saved, then click Add Stream.

  4. Step 4: Check the recording status

    While the model is in a public show, the row switches to Recording within a few seconds. Otherwise the Status column explains why nothing is being saved:

    Private
    The model is in a private show.
    Offline
    The model is offline, away or in a hidden show.
    Rate Limited
    Chaturbate asked CaptureGem to slow down. It pauses and tries again by itself.
    Errored
    CaptureGem couldn't check or record the room.

    Hover over a status for more detail, such as the reason behind an Errored status.

  5. Step 5: Find your recording

    When a recording finishes, CaptureGem converts it into a video file; long recordings can take a little while. Open the Review tab to play, trim, tag or delete it, or click Open Video Folder on the Record tab.

    Recordings are MP4 files by default. With Premium, each file runs up to 60 minutes by default and auto-record starts the next one straight away. You can change the save location, the file length (Cap Video Segments at Duration (Minutes)) and the container in Settings.

Free version and Premium auto-record

The free version saves up to 5 minutes per recording and lets you add up to 10 models. It records a model when you add or start them while they are live, so if the model was offline, start the recording again later.

Premium removes those limits and adds auto-record: select the model on the Record tab, choose Modify Auto Record under Actions and pick Record Always. CaptureGem then records whenever the model comes online and restarts after a disconnect. To do this for every model you add, turn on Auto Record All Newly Added Models in Settings.

The Monitor tab shows live previews of everything you are recording.

Chaturbate notes and troubleshooting

  • Rate Limited

    Chaturbate caps how often apps may check rooms. CaptureGem spaces out its checks and, when told to slow down, waits and retries, so recording resumes within a few minutes without any action from you. You don't need Custom Headers for rate limits. Avoid setting Offline Retry Wait Time very low in Settings.

  • Region blocks and age verification

    Where Chaturbate makes you sign in or verify your age, its rooms show Errored. Sign in and finish any verification in your browser, then give CaptureGem that browser session with Chaturbate Custom Headers.

  • "Chaturbate has no room named …"

    The username is misspelled or the room no longer exists. Copy the username straight from the room address.

  • VPNs and server connections

    Chaturbate sometimes challenges VPN and server connections. The challenge appears in the Errored status and CaptureGem retries automatically. If one VPN location keeps failing, switch locations or turn the VPN off.

  • Duplicate username

    The same room was added twice with different capitalization. Only one entry records, so remove the other.

  • Private shows

    CaptureGem records public shows. If you can watch a private show in your own browser, Premium's Proxy feature can save it as well. See the proxy guide for Windows, macOS or Linux.
